May 3, 2007 Minutes CVCA, UA MINUTES May 3, 2007

Energize Eau Claire County held a Call to Action meeting, Wed., April 18. We had representatives from the CVCA in attendance. That organization currently has one board position open. Kyle Anderson will represent the interests of the CVCA if approved for the open position. He will keep us informed on any future opportunities for involvement. We have a unique perspective on the living well and healthy lifestyle and could help this organization with our expertise in this field. Energize Eau Claire County is our charitable organization this year at the Eau Claire Express game. The hot lunch programs have very little money to work with and mediocre guidelines for real nutrition at best. The EECC is working to tie together the bike/walking trails in the county.

Eau Claire Express game is scheduled for August 4, 2007. We need ideas for small items to throw into the crowd and donations of the larger prizes. We anticipate bikes, Brewers game tickets, and possibly stay certificates at one of the waterpark/camping facilities around the Dells (?).

We are needing to update the website. PLEASE send office information to Steve Mickelson for inclusion. He needs pictures and text.

Jay met with the WCA board. There are funds available to assist with events such as sponsorship of the Express and bringing speakers in for the community. These funds are without strings but do have specific parameters/guidelines to be followed.

Each doctor is asked to include $100.00 for the Express game when they submit their annual dues of $125.00 by July 1, 2007 if they intend to be listed on event program and all advertising. If the funds are not paid by 7/1/07 payable to CVCA, UA and sent to MJ the doctor will be excluded from the advertising and listing as a CVCA member.

Ryan is now working at CMI and will be the speaker at the next meeting.

Wednesday, May 9, 2007 Steve Bircher is hosting the Round table at his office from 7-8:30 p.m. The topic is laboratory procedures. The event is bring your own dinner;)

Please send the list of your office CA's to MJ so they can schedule a CA luncheon.

Congrats to Dr. Emily and hubby on the birth of Isaiah on May 1, 2007. Both mom and baby are doing well after the home birth!

Please keep good thoughts for Joe LeBlanc and Tim Wolter.

Respectfully submitted,

Lynn R. Thompson, DC

Secretary for the Board CVCA, UA MINUTES April 4, 2007

Jen Theisen gave a presentation and distributed information on Energize Eau Claire County. (Please see attachments for information). Dr. Kyle Anderson will be the CVCA contact person and will investigate Board openings and etc. All interested are encouraged to attend the Call to Action Meeting on Wednesday, April 18.

Dr. Dave Nanstad reported on the request from Special Olympics for member volunteers to hand out awards on Saturday, May 5 at 1-1:30 pm and to work as timers at the events on that day. If you are interested please CALL Dave at his office to arrange a time to sign the sign-up sheets.

Dr. Dave also reported on he Eau Claire Express game situation. They have adopted a "no fireworks" status (with two exceptions) due to complaints about the noise. Our organization is again being marketed as "The Great Prize Give Away." Our charity for this year is Energize Eau Claire County. Discussion regarding the possibility of sponsoring a band after the ballgame. Dr. Jay will check on the logistics and any limitations from the Express. Recommendation was to have Dr. Harold Dykema throw out the first pitch. (Dr. Harold is retiring this year;(

We are being an aggressive marketing campaign to solicit advertisers (generate revenue) for our newsletters (minutes) and links to our website. Please read the attached letter and send any changes/comments to Dr. Lynn. The fees associated with the newsletter is $500.00 per calendar year and to link to our website is $1,000.00 per year.

Dr. Steve Bircher is hosting the first quarterly study group at his office on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 7-8:30 p.m. Please bring your own dinner to this first meeting. The topic is: "Lab Surprises." There will be no summer meetings.

Drs. MJ and Lori reported on he Quarterly CA luncheon. They will not be meeting over the summer quarter. Each doctor is requested to e-mail Dr. MJ a list of CA's in your office so a proper invitation/explanation can be distributed and no one is missed.

Please review your summer schedules and let one of the board members know when a summer social would work the best. A date, time and location will be determined after tallying the responses.

Lynn R. Thompson, DC

Secretary for the Board March 1. 2007 CVCA,UA MINUTES MARCH 1, 2007 Dr. MJ distributed an accounting of expenses related to the Chestnut event.

Do we want to do another engagement with Dr. Chestnut next year and direct him to focus on steps to "wellness?"

Hosting a Wellness Fair was discussed. Anticipated time line is next spring. Discussed possible speakers for the future. Named mentioned included:
Patrick Gentempo, DC
Tony Palmero, DC
Eric Plasker, DC
Mark Percival, DC
Guy Riekmann, DC
Riekowski, DC (he is scheduled to speak at the WCA Fall Convention)
Dan Murphy, DC
Bob Hoffman, DC
David Simon, MD

Dr. Steve Bircher will initially spearhead a Quarterly Round Table/Study Group from September through May (off during the summer). If you have a talent or specialty that you would like to share with the group please contact Steve at his office to discuss the scheduling. These study groups will be independent of the regular CVCA meeting. Anticipate the third Thursday of the month for the group meeting. More to follow as planning becomes organized.

Suggestion was made that we as an organization host a booth at the Farmers Market during the summer to answer health questions and etc. If you are interested in "manning" the booth please contact me ASAP. Decision to participate in the Farmer's Market will be dependent on the number of doctors willing to take a shift at the booth.

We have had a request from the CA's that they would like to get together with other CA's in the area/ The committee to facilitate the program are: MJ, Lori and Bill. Please submit the name of a strong leader in your office to any of these three doctors. The incentive to the CA's that participate should be at a minimum their meal for the meeting and possibly the time paid.

We are looking for goals for this next year. If you have ideas please submit them to any of the officers. Jay, Steve M., MJ, or Lynn. Possible short-term: Wellness Fair next spring. We would need a location. If you have access to friends/coaches that have coordinated this type of event somewhere else, please ask for their assistance/suggestions.guidance.

Possible long-term: yearly sponsor a speaker to come to the area. (Possibly the next would be Dr. Chestnut again next year - Jan 08). If you took any pictures of the Chestnut event, especially of the crowd, Dr. Steve M needs them for the website. He is also asking for assistance in writing the context for the website. MJ will check with Thomas Video for the master video to see if we can get stills off the tape.

Mike McMahon reported that the WCA board has approved funds to be distributed in the form of grants to local areas for the marketing of Chiropractic. The funds need to be applied for and will be based on the number of DC's from our area taking WCA sponsored seminars.

If you would like to order any of the Chestnut materials (books, tapes...) contact Brian. Please go to www.thewellnesspractice.com to look at what is available. We will receive a discount for the materials if we order in bulk.

Are we interested in participating as a sponsor in the "Cars Wars" calendar next year?

There are prescription pads for Sacred Heart Hospital MRI center available.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters are having their Bowl for Kids Sake in the Eau Claire area on May 1-4. Please contact Dr. Tammy for more information.

Each doctor is purchasing 50 tickets at $2.00 each to distribute at their offices. Tickets should be picked up at Dr. Dave's office. Each doctor is donating a drawing prize valued at $25.00 or better. Authorization was made for $1,000 for t-shirts with the Express logo and the CVCA logo on the shirts. Do we have a contact to get he Dilly bar coupons again? Small baseballs to be tossed or given at the game. Carlson WagonLit will possibly be donating a trip to LasVegas for the drawing.

We will be checking into various styles of "dressier" shirts for the CVCA members to purchase. Recommend teal/blue color with the CVCA and logo on the front shoulder area.

Dr. Kevin Schultz presented the CLA Military program and shared the paperwork he has incorporated in his office. (Please look at the attachments for the two ads and an example of his paperwork.) Motion made and passed that the CVCA adopt the CLA Military program as policy for our membership. Anyone needing more information is to contact Dr. Kevin. Dr. Steven Bircher will contact the National Guard Armory in Eau Claire to make them aware of the program. We will coordinated public service spots once everyone has the protocol/paperwork in place. As your office "comes on board" please contact Dr. Kevin or Dr. Lynn to get your name and office on the official referral list.

JANUARY 3, 2008 CVCA MINUTES:

We discussed postponing Pat Gentempo until early 2009 in order to 1. Get some dates that mutually work and 2. He wants to include 4 hours of continuing education in the afternoon before we would do an evening event. This would allow us to market it to all NW district docs to come for CE credits and maybe get more CVCA docs involved as well.

As far as Guy Rieckeman, Steve has been in touch with his assistant and is getting some dates for late summer/fall to do a Chestnut type event for our patients.

Dave Nanstad has all the dates for the Express games available to us. We will need to decide at the next meeting when we will do our "Express night".

Next CVCA meeting will be on Feb 7 at 12:30. We will have Steve Bircher fill us in on his new insurance program. A great reason to be there. It can be of help to all of us.

Please remember to RSVP 24 hours prior to meeting time. We had an extremely low turn out during our December and January meetings. Everyone needs to get there, especially with the upcoming events and decisions that need to be made.

Minutes CVCA February 7, 2008

Steven Bircher, DC gave an presentation on the LifeStrive program. Information regarding this program can be directed to Dr. Steven at his office (715) 832-1953.

Discussion regarding the Gentempo event resulted in decision to table the event until next year. There is too much to do and too little time to do it properly. We need better avenues for advertising and some way to incorporate CEU's into the event for doctors to attend.

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2008.

Please respond when asked to RSVP. Many assumptions are resulting in chaos and inability to properly plan for seating/staff and etc.

Respectfully submitted,

Lynn R. Thompson, DC

Secretary for the Board

March Minutes

Lynn was not there for the meeting so I will pass along an abreviated version of the events.

- Gentempo- The commitee for the Gentempo event will make plans to have him in the area in March of 2009. Things were happening too fast to make the event feasible for this year, so to do it right we will have the event next year. Contact Kevin Schultz with any ideas or if you wish to help.

- Express Game- Mark your calendars, the game is on JULY 26th. Our charity is the 4H. This seemed to be a much more recognizable charity and also focuses more on children. We agreed that last year, we had too many give aways, so this year we will strive for quality not quantity. Definitely t-shirts and the committee will look into trips, bikes, etc. Dave Nanstad and Brian Becker usually head this up, but Dave's daughter's wedding is about that time and he will be a bit busy. Hopefully we can convince Brian to take this on with help from a few others of course!!

-Bowl for KIds Sake is May 6-9 this year. Contact Tammy Amoth if you have any questions.

- Cindy Mickelson presented the idea of a scholarship fund to be used for students from the Chippewa Valley for Chiropractic Education. She mentioned it being in Dr. Tim Wolters name, but no final decision was made on this, Cindy will look into the matter and report back. It was suggested that we use a portion (5-10%) of our years dues for this purpose.

Dr. Jeff Cronk will be doing a presentation on Dynamic Imaging: Specializing in the Diagnosis of Whiplash and Spinal Injuries.

X-ray is the most OBJECTIVE tool that you have in your clinic yet the information mined from them is the most underutilized Can your patient's x-rays give you a real good indication of what disc may be at fault in a trauma case Dynamic imaging (flexion/extension views) can drive all of your care by allowing you to utilize three well established guidelines, CCP, AMA, and Croft Treatment Guidelines, and we will show you how Dynamic imaging makes apportionment a breeze Want to neutralize IME/ICE/DME problems before they start, see how dynamic imaging can do that (this one will really make a lot of sense to you) Most of you as good as you document, really only document a strain and can be in the, "patient should have resolved in 4-8 weeks scenario on really all of your trauma claims...come see how dynamic imaging resolves this Ever thought of post payment reviews that you heard about...come watch how dynamic imaging can really resolve that issue by showing you just how powerful the result are in driving your care To be a spine trauma expert, you must assess the bone, muscle, nerve and ligaments for damage, yet for many the most impairing injury, ligament injuries go undiagnosed. The presentation will be Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Florian Gardens. Registration begins at 7:30 am with presentation to begin at 8:00 am. The presentation will be from 8-12.
